Weft Terms of Service

Last updated: [DATE]

These terms are an agreement between you and Weft Systems, Inc., a Delaware corporation at 2810 N Church St STE 91003, Wilmington, DE 19802, USA ("Weft", "we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].

They cover Weft Core hardware, the Weft app for iPhone and iPad, Workshop in your browser at weft.systems and in the Weft app, and Weft Connect. Please read them before you create an account, order a Core or use a Weft vehicle.

1. Who these terms are for

Different parts apply to different people:

You areWhat applies
A builder or workshop (a business that builds or upgrades vehicles)All sections. You act as a business, not as a consumer.
A self-builder (an individual building or upgrading your own vehicle)All sections, including section 9 (self-build). If you live in the EU, you are a consumer, and section 15 explains the protections you keep.
A vehicle owner using the Weft appSections 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. Your builder sold you the vehicle and is your first point of contact for it.
Someone using Scan a vehicle in the Weft app without an accountSections 6, 7 and 12 to 15.

If you accept these terms for a company, you confirm you may bind that company.

2. What Weft is

  • Weft Core is a controller fitted in campervans and expedition vehicles. It connects the systems already installed (power, heating, water, lights, cameras and others) and presents them as one vehicle. Weft Security adds recording and on-device person detection for up to four cameras. Cameras are not included.
  • Workshop is what builders use to set up, commission and support vehicles: in your browser at weft.systems and in the Weft app. Scan a vehicle in the Weft app works without an account (section 6.3).
  • The Weft app is the app for iPhone and iPad: owners use it for their vehicle, builders use Workshop in it. Owners can also use it on Apple Watch [CONFIRM: Android availability; the website lists iOS and Android].
  • Weft Connect is the connectivity service: the built-in eSIM, Weft's remote relay, remote access, alerts, the AI assistant and offsite backups (section 5).

3. Accounts

3.1 Who can have an account

  • Builders and workshops create a company account in Workshop. The person who creates it becomes its administrator. Administrators can invite colleagues and are responsible for who they invite and what those people do.
  • Self-builders create a personal account in their own name. A self-build account is for your own vehicle, not for building vehicles for others. [CONFIRM: limit of vehicles per self-build account.]
  • Vehicle owners do not need a Weft account. They pair the Weft app with their vehicle at handover, using the recovery code their builder gives them. [CONFIRM: no owner account exists today.]

Workshop, in your browser and in the Weft app, is free to use with a Weft Core. We may introduce optional paid features later; we will never charge for them without your agreement.

3.2 Signing up

  • Give us accurate details: your company or your own name, a working email address and, for companies, a website if you have one.
  • We confirm your email address before the account works. If an account is never confirmed, we delete it after 7 days.
  • If you give us a website, we may fetch your logo from it once, as a browser would, so your account shows your brand. You can change or remove it.
  • We may decline or close an account that looks fraudulent or automated.

3.3 Keeping your account safe

Keep your password private. Tell us at once at [email protected] [CONFIRM: or a security address] if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for activity under your account unless it results from our fault.

4. Orders, prices and payment

4.1 Ordering is a request first

"Order a Core" (or "Request access") is a request, not a purchase. We have no stock yet and take no payment online.

  1. You send a request from your account.
  2. We reply by email with the price, taxes, delivery costs, expected delivery date and payment terms.
  3. A contract is formed only when you accept that confirmation [CONFIRM: by reply email, or by an "Accept" step in your account]. Nothing is charged before then.

We may decline a request, for example when a product is not yet available in your region. Launch dates on our website are plans, not promises: EU launch Q1 2027, US launch Q2 2027.

4.2 Prices and VAT

  • List prices on our website (EU: Weft Core €1,790, Weft Security €2,490; US: Weft Core $1,990, Weft Security $2,790) are per vehicle.
  • For businesses, EU prices are shown excluding VAT. VAT is added where it applies, or the reverse-charge rule applies when you give us a valid EU VAT number. We account for VAT on consumer sales in the EU through the non-Union One-Stop Shop, registered in Ireland [OSS NUMBER, registration in progress].
  • For EU consumers (self-builders), we show and confirm the total price including VAT and any delivery costs before you accept.
  • US prices exclude sales tax, which we add where required [CONFIRM: US sales-tax set-up].
  • Builders get lower per-vehicle prices from 10 vehicles a year. We confirm your price in the order confirmation.
  • Delivery costs are [CONFIRM: included / quoted in the confirmation].

4.3 Payment

Payment terms are in the order confirmation [CONFIRM: e.g. invoice, payable within 14 days, by bank transfer]. For businesses, the Core remains our property until paid in full [CONFIRM: retention of title].

4.4 Delivery

We deliver to the address in your order. From launch, Cores typically ship from stock within 2 weeks; larger orders are scheduled with you. [CONFIRM: when risk passes for business orders, e.g. on handover to the carrier. For consumers, risk passes when you receive the goods.]

5. Weft Connect

5.1 What it includes

Weft Connect keeps the vehicle connected away from its own Wi-Fi. It includes:

  • the Core's built-in eSIM service;
  • remote access to the vehicle through Weft's own relay, for the owner's apps and, with the owner's approval, for the builder's team;
  • remote telemetry and alerts for the builder;
  • the AI assistant in the Weft app;
  • nightly encrypted offsite backups.

AI questions and remote camera clips are included within fair-use limits [CONFIRM: publish the limits, or state how we apply them].

5.2 Included for 3 years

Every Weft Core includes 3 years of Weft Connect, starting on activation: the day the Core is first commissioned in a vehicle. If a Core is not activated within 6 months of delivery to the builder, the 3 years start at the end of those 6 months. Nothing more is charged for those 3 years.

5.3 Renewal

After the included period, the vehicle's owner can renew Weft Connect in the Weft app, one year at a time, at €129 or $159 a year (the App Store price shown at purchase, including taxes). The builder does not renew it.

  • Renewal is a yearly auto-renewing subscription bought in the Weft app through Apple. Apple takes payment and its terms apply to that payment, including refunds.
  • Cancelling: turn off auto-renewal in your Apple account settings at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Connect continues until the end of the paid year, then stops.
  • We may change the renewal price for future years. We will tell owners at least [30] days before a change applies to them, and an owner can choose not to renew.

5.4 If Connect is not renewed

The vehicle keeps working:

  • Keeps working: local control on board, modes and automations on the Core, the Weft app over the vehicle's own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and Bluetooth diagnostics by any workshop on site.
  • Also keeps working: software updates, including security updates, whenever the vehicle is on a Wi-Fi network with internet access.
  • Stops: the built-in eSIM service, remote access and alerts from away, the builder's remote telemetry, the AI assistant, and new offsite backups. Existing backups are kept for 90 days after Connect ends, then deleted.

Owners can renew at any time to restore these. A lapsed period is never charged retroactively.

5.5 When the vehicle changes hands

Weft Connect belongs to the vehicle, not the person. When the vehicle is sold, the remaining included or paid time passes to the next owner once they pair their phone at handover. An Apple subscription is personal to the Apple account that bought it: the seller should turn off auto-renewal, and the new owner renews from their own account when the remaining time runs out.

5.6 If your builder stops trading

The vehicle switches to Weft branding, owners can still renew in the app, and Weft helps owners with Weft-specific issues.

6. Apps, software and updates

6.1 Licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use our software (on the Core, in the apps and in Workshop) for as long as you lawfully use the product. The software on a Core passes with the vehicle when it is sold. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer or modify the software, except where the law allows it.

Open-source parts are licensed under their own terms [CONFIRM: link to an open-source notice].

6.2 Updates

  • Each release is signed. It installs beside the running version, and the Core restarts only when the vehicle is parked. It checks its own health and returns to the previous version on its own if anything looks wrong.
  • Builders can roll updates out to their vehicles in stages from Workshop.
  • We provide security and functional updates for [CONFIRM: support period, e.g. at least 5 years from the date the Core was sold]. For EU consumers, we provide the updates the law requires for as long as you can reasonably expect them, and we tell you what each update changes when it matters.
  • Updates need an internet connection: through Weft Connect, or through any Wi-Fi network the vehicle joins, so vehicles without Connect still get them.

6.3 Scan a vehicle

Scan a vehicle in the Weft app scans for nearby Bluetooth devices, and, if you ask, the Wi-Fi network you are on, on your phone only. We do not receive the results. Nothing leaves your phone unless you share it (a summary, a PDF or a link) or send us a support email. A shared link holds the check in the link itself; our server never receives that part. The results are an estimate: a Weft Core confirms what is actually supported.

6.4 Third-party services

Some features rely on others: Apple (App Store, in-app purchases, weather), the AI provider for the assistant, and map and weather data. These services can change or stop. When one does, we will try to replace it, but the feature may be limited.

7. Owner control and remote support

  • The vehicle belongs to its owner. Owners decide who can open the vehicle remotely.
  • A builder's team, or Weft staff, can open a vehicle remotely only when the owner approves a session, for one hour, four hours or a day. Sessions end on their own and every request is logged.
  • An owner can allow standing support access for their vehicle. Only then can Weft keep access open without a request each time, and the owner can withdraw it.
  • If an owner loses their phone, the recovery code from handover lets them add a new phone on board, over the vehicle's own Wi-Fi.

8. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • use Weft to break the law or anyone's rights;
  • send spam, malware or harmful content through Weft;
  • probe, scan or attack our systems, the relay or other people's vehicles;
  • access a vehicle, account or data you are not authorised to access;
  • remove safety interlocks, bypass equipment acceptance checks, or make Weft control equipment in a way its manufacturer does not allow;
  • use cameras to record people where that is unlawful;
  • use the AI assistant to produce unlawful content, or rely on it for safety-critical decisions;
  • overload the service beyond fair use;
  • upload logos, manuals or content you do not have the right to use.

We may suspend access that breaks these rules, and we will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

9. If you build your own vehicle (self-build terms)

By using a self-build account you confirm that:

  • You are responsible for your vehicle's electrical installation, wiring, fusing, mounting and every other part of the build, and for following the instructions of every product you fit, including our install guide.
  • Weft Core controls only what you connect to it. It does not make an unsafe installation safe, and it does not replace protective devices such as fuses, breakers, battery protection or gas and smoke alarms.
  • You will have a qualified person check anything you are unsure about, and anything the law requires to be done or inspected by a qualified person (for example 230 V or 120 V AC installations, gas systems or vehicle type-approval and road-worthiness rules in your country).
  • Weft does not commission self-built vehicles on site and is not your installer.

Damage caused by your installation is not covered by the warranty (section 11). This section does not limit your statutory rights as a consumer (section 15).

10. Equipment control and safety

  • Weft presents and controls equipment made by others. Each system's own controls and protections stay in charge; for example, a battery system's own management stays in charge of power.
  • Equipment that moves the vehicle, such as Goldschmitt HLC hydraulic levelling and RHC air suspension, is controlled by Weft only after the installer's attended acceptance test in Workshop: the installer starts a short movement and presses Stop, and the Core confirms the system stopped in time. Re-pairing, re-commissioning or changing the controller clears the acceptance, and the test must be repeated. Owners cannot pair this equipment themselves.
  • Before using equipment that moves, extends or heats, make sure it is safe to do so: people, animals and objects clear, the vehicle parked where required, and as the manufacturer's manual says. [CONFIRM: whether moving equipment can be controlled remotely; if not, say so here.]
  • Weft is not a safety or life-protection system. Do not rely on Weft alone for smoke, carbon monoxide, gas, fire, intrusion or medical alerts. Alerts and remote access depend on power, coverage and third parties and can be delayed or missed.
  • Readings and forecasts (battery runway, tank levels, weather-based estimates, AI answers) are estimates. Check them before decisions that matter.

11. Warranty

11.1 Our 3-year hardware warranty

We warrant that Weft Core and Weft Security will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 3 years from activation, the day the Core is first commissioned in a vehicle. If a Core is not activated within 6 months of delivery to the builder, the warranty starts at the end of those 6 months.

If a covered defect appears, we will repair or replace the Core at our choice. A replacement unit gets the vehicle's configuration restored from the cloud and its history from the nightly encrypted backup. We do not ship a replacement before the faulty unit returns [CONFIRM: until spare units are stocked locally].

Not covered: damage from installation errors, wiring faults, over-voltage or reverse polarity, water or physical damage beyond the product's specification, unauthorised opening or modification, use against our instructions, normal wear, and equipment made by others (including cameras, antennas you supply and connected systems). [CONFIRM: exact exclusions and the specification references.]

How to claim: contact your builder, or us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] with the vehicle, the Core's serial number and a description of the fault. We will tell you how to return the unit. We pay shipping for valid warranty claims in both directions. If we find no covered defect, we may charge the return shipping.

11.2 Your legal rights stay

This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights. EU consumers have a legal guarantee of conformity of at least 2 years from the seller of the goods, free of charge, and our warranty does not limit it. Using our warranty is your choice. Builders have the rights their contract and the law give them.

12. Your content and data

  • Logos, manuals, vehicle names, checks and messages you add stay yours. You give us permission to store, process and show them to the people you share them with, and to use them to run the service and answer you.
  • Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. For builders, our Data Processing Agreement applies to owner data we process for you.
  • You may send us feedback. We may use it without obligation to you.

13. Liability

13.1 Everyone

We are liable without limit for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for intent and gross negligence, under product liability laws, and wherever the law does not allow a limit.

13.2 Businesses (builders and workshops)

To the extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data you could have backed up, business interruption or indirect or consequential loss;
  • our total liability for all claims in any 12 months is limited to the amounts you paid us in those 12 months [CONFIRM: cap];
  • you are responsible for your installation, your commissioning and the advice you give your customers, and you will hold us harmless from claims arising from them [CONFIRM: indemnity scope].

13.3 Consumers

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms limits liability that the law of your country does not allow us to limit. [Lawyer to add the German formulation for slight negligence in breach of essential contractual obligations (Kardinalpflichten), limited to foreseeable, typical damage.]

13.4 US customers

To the extent the law allows, the software and services are provided "as is" apart from the warranty in section 11, and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Some states do not allow these exclusions, so they may not apply to you.

14. Suspension and termination

  • You can close your account at any time by writing to [email protected] [CONFIRM: or from account settings]. Closing a builder account does not switch off vehicles you have handed over; they keep working for their owners.
  • We can suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, for non-payment, or where the law requires it. Where reasonable, we warn you first and give you time to fix it.
  • We will not lock owners out of their vehicles. Local control, modes and automations keep working whatever happens to an account, to renewals or to a builder's business.
  • If we ever stop offering Weft Connect, we will give at least 12 months' notice and refund any prepaid, unused renewal time.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive (for example 11, 12, 13 and 15) survive termination.

15. Governing law, courts and disputes

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) does not apply.
  • Businesses: the state and federal courts in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction [CONFIRM: or arbitration].
  • EU consumers: this choice of law does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. You can bring a claim in the courts of your home country, and we can sue you only there.
  • US consumers: [CONFIRM: whether to add an arbitration clause or keep the courts of your home state].
  • Please contact us first at [email protected]; most problems can be solved quickly. [Lawyer: consumer dispute resolution statement, see imprint.md.]

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the product or the law changes. We will tell you by email or in the app at least [30] days before a change that matters takes effect. If you do not agree, you can stop using the service before then; a consumer's existing purchase is not affected by a change to their disadvantage without their agreement.

17. Other terms

  • These terms, the order confirmation, the Privacy Policy and, for builders, the Data Processing Agreement are the whole agreement. If they conflict, the order confirmation wins for that order.
  • If a clause is invalid, the rest stays in force.
  • You may not transfer your rights without our consent. We may transfer them to a company that takes over our business, and will tell you.
  • Not enforcing a right at once does not waive it.
  • These terms are in English [CONFIRM: German, Italian and Spanish translations; which version prevails for consumers].
